Kantaya Hostel

The room was shabby and not very comfortable, though the people were friendly. I booked a private room, and it was basic, cold, noisy, and had no towel. The corridor-facing wall was all opaque glass without curtains, so the motion sensor light in the hallway kept lighting up the room whenever someone walked past. It didn’t feel private. I paid for more than one night but less than two, then decided shortly afterward to stay only one night. They said they couldn’t return the change, so I overpaid. The place also seems to have three different names and multiple listings on hostelworld, which is confusing and feels a bit sketchy. I’m sure plenty of people have a good stay, but I think you can get more for your money.

The rooms are simple, but the beds are comfortable and warm, and breakfast was decent. Staff were very friendly and helped us arrange different trips from Puno.

The beds were comfy, and the hostel was clean. Staff were lovely and helpful with tips on what to do and arranging tours and buses. There was free tea around the clock, a fully equipped kitchen for cooking, and a really good breakfast with pancakes and orange juice. Great value too. My only downside was that the beds didn’t have privacy curtains. I loved staying here!

For a small budget, this is definitely a good option. The price felt fair for the quality, the location was superb, the staff were really nice, and breakfast was good. The rooms smelled a bit because there were no windows, but it was okay.
