Pukara House

The staff were attentive at breakfast and offered to cook eggs fresh if you wanted them. Breakfast was tasty, and the bathroom and shower were great. We stayed two nights on our GAdventures tour. The rooms were clean and cozy, especially after climbing the stairs for the first time at nearly 4000m altitude.

The breakfast was probably the best I've had at this price, with ham, avocado, cheese, bread, cereals, fruit, and hot and cold drinks. The rooms were very clean, the showers hot, and an extra blanket was more than enough for me, as the room temperature wasn't too bad. The women working there were super friendly and helpful, even arranging a day tour for us at a good price. I had a great three-night stay and would come back next time I'm in Puno.

The staff were amazing, always bundled up themselves because of the cold. In winter, though, the place was very cold and humid. Room heating was available only from 6pm to midnight, apparently, and mornings were freezing when getting out of bed. The lobby and eating area were also very cold. There was a fireplace and heater in the lobby next to the eating area, but neither was on. We had to eat breakfast dressed as if we were outside in 5C weather. I'm Canadian and found it very cold.

The rooms were comfortable, and the WiFi was good enough for streaming. Breakfast was the usual bread, cheese, sliced meat, and fruit, but the organization and service were much better. Staff promptly offered eggs and kept the tables clear. You have to ring the bell to enter, though they let you in quickly. Good rooms and service.
