I’ve stayed at several places in San Bartolo, and cleanliness can be a big problem, so Casa Maruja is one I can recommend. I booked just one night and got a first-floor room. It was clean and very quiet, which made it perfect for resting. There was no natural light because it’s at the back, but since we only used the room to sleep, it was acceptable. The bathroom was across the hallway, but only we had access to it, so it ended up being private. I think the place could improve some details, feel a bit more welcoming, and look a little more modern.

Mrs. Maruja and her husband Willian, who own the place, are wonderful people. They welcomed us so warmly, and the service was wonderfully attentive. Thank you. We’ll be back in the summer for sure, and may God bless you greatly.

The rooms are tiny, and you can hear guests next door through the drywall walls, even their groans. They also wouldn’t let me leave anything there after check-out. It’s expensive, and I had a bad experience. Don’t go.

The rooms aren’t cleaned, and the bathrooms are dirty and moldy. For a place in the south, they shouldn’t be using prefabricated materials, especially at those prices. It’s nowhere near worth it!
