We won’t be staying here again. The spa’s water circuit was miserable, with cold water and a cold steam room, and we were billed for a wine glass that was already broken. My card was charged twice, so I had to dispute one charge with the card company. Staff kept changing their story, and the food and service were terrible. The only helpful service came from our tour guide.

The place was beautiful, and I’m glad my family and I stayed here. Our room was really neat, and the workers treated us with so much kindness and respect.

The food was some of the best I’ve eaten in Peru across my two trips there, and everyone working here was friendly and helpful. We visited Tuesday through Friday in November 2018 with my girlfriend. During the first couple of days it was so quiet that it felt like we had the resort to ourselves. From the lake tour, the other resorts looked nice, but this one stood out as the most beautiful. There was plenty to do: jet skis, kayaks, pedal boats, a boat tour, horseback riding, a sauna, a pool, a gym, and a mud bath tour that I didn’t go on. The four horses were a nice touch, and we fed them. Frogs come out at night along with the usual insects. I enjoyed walking around after dark, and there were lots of bug zappers to keep mosquitoes away. Our room was clean and lovely, with a sliding door onto a patio where we could relax. I miss the place already and will probably return someday.

Nobody at the resort spoke English, so he stepped in as our friend and advocate. Kayaking and swimming were fun, but the highlight was visiting Don Grimaldo’s Mud Baths. Miguel’s interpretation taught us so much and made the experience spectacular. I’d love to do it again. One thing I’d suggest to the resort is offering fresh bottled water free for guests who can’t drink tap water.

I really liked the hotel, the rooms, pool, activities, and the attention we got. The restaurant could use more choices, though. The buffet was all meat, with no vegetarian or vegan options. When we raised it with the restaurant manager, they only offered a 10 pen discount.
