Arenas Hotel & Spa

ok

The way staff argued with a guest about internal management matters left a terrible impression. It was a sharp change from the warmth I’ve come to expect from people in Tacna. I’m from Arica and have visited for years, and this place used to provide excellent service. Also, when they assign a room, they don’t mention that some are directly below the saunas, where the heat makes them unbearable.

The staff were the one bright spot, always ready to help, but I wouldn’t stay here again. Breakfast was just four rolls with ham and cheese, with no butter or jam, and noise from other rooms, including snoring, carried through. The room was too hot beside the pool and saunas, with poor ventilation. Water pressure was extremely weak and the hot water barely worked. The large mattress was so hard it gave me back pain, which isn’t what I expect from a spa stay.

The spa was the best part, and staff service was excellent. The room was pleasant, the spa service fairly good, and the location near Tacna was convenient. Food service, though, was terrible. Even simpler meals took an hour and a half, and they were excessively salty.
