Hotel San Martin

There aren't many amenities, but it's a clean place in a great location and worked well for a couple of nights while traveling through. Better than I expected.

The breakfast was good, and the staff made the stay a great experience. Doña Carmen, who looked after breakfast, was very nice. On the first day we got coffee, papaya juice, watermelon, and an empanada. The next day there was coffee and papaya juice again, plus a delicious shredded chicken sandwich with mayonnaise. We asked for another sandwich, which cost 6 soles each. Tania at the daytime reception and the evening receptionist were both helpful and knew a lot about nearby attractions. Our room, 206, was great, clean, and had nice linens. The TV and air conditioning both worked well with their remotes. Channel 12.3 was the only English-language station. There was a small, cozy closet for hanging clothes and storing luggage and shoes, and a handy table or desk for extra things. There weren't enough outlets. To charge a phone, we had to plug it in by the entrance, a bit far from the bed. Outlets beside the lamps near the headboard would be useful. The bathroom was clean and had toilet paper, two small bars of soap, and towels, but there was no shelf for shampoo or room for toiletries. They only provided bar soap. The lock on room 206 didn't work properly, so we had to double-check it when leaving. The Wi-Fi details on the little paper we got at check-in didn't work either. On the second floor, only the network called HOTEL SAN MARTIN1 worked. One other thing: the last two steps going upstairs were a different height from the rest, so you have to watch your step. It wasn't really noticeable when going down.

The Wi-Fi was strong, the place was very clean, and the staff were friendly. Great location too.

It's in a good spot, but the rooms feel small, and sometimes the place doesn't match the hype.
