Rado Hotel - Santa Maria

The sites Hotels.com and Booking.com show a charge of $37USD, but the hotel won't take USD, including by card. They require Peru Nuevo Soles and use an exchange rate about 10% worse than the official one. That's ridiculous, illegal, and against the platforms' policies.

We arrived with my family around 8 pm, and a problem with my reservation meant they first had to move us to another location. By the time we got our rooms it was late, so we ate at the hotel's restaurant. The food seemed fine, but my dad and I had similar dishes and both spent the whole night throwing up. It was the worst experience ever. The hotel itself is nice, but its service needs to improve.

Getting to the garage was confusing because our GPS got lost, and the parking itself was far away and so tiny that we eventually had to leave the car outside the hotel. Inside, though, the room and bathroom were clean, the white towels were clean, the dining area was nice, and the service and food were great. The hotel was okay overall.

We chose a standard room for five days, then found a wall right in front of its window. After talking with the staff, we were moved to the more expensive suite with a window wall, but couldn't use the jacuzzi. There was construction directly outside that window, with a worker looking straight into the room, so we couldn't open the curtains. The windows were pieced together with gaps of about 2 cm, so they wouldn't close properly and every street conversation came through, along with the loud construction. Keeping the curtains shut left the room very dark. None of the staff at this three-star hotel spoke English. I wouldn't recommend this horrible place to anyone. Stay away for your own safety.
