The lobby was comfortable enough to hang out in, and that’s where the wifi is. There isn’t wifi in the rooms. We were glad we stayed here, though, since it’s a clean, well-kept hotel with a comfy feel and really helpful staff. Our queen room looked out at a hill, with sheep, cows and, I think, alpacas visible from the window. The heater was a big help during our July visit. We missed the observatory because it had been raining and the sky was cloudy on the few nights we stayed. There’s not much around, so you’ll need to arrange transport to get places, and Uber doesn’t operate in this area.

After several mountain treks, we chose tradition Colca for its pool and spa, hoping to relax. The higher price was fine, and the place has plenty of potential, but the letdowns started soon after we arrived. The pool was empty then and the water was cold throughout our stay. The advertised spa wasn’t available, and using the sauna meant paying 20 dollars. There was no biljart table, despite it being shown in the pictures. The star observation could be great, and the guide is passionate, but the telescope was out of focus and we were ushered out after five minutes. We did get clean rooms, HOT showers and free guided tours. Staff were very slow, and even asking questions seemed like too much. Smiles seemed to cost extra. They didn’t know much about local transport or activities, and offered only expensive private tours or horseback riding. It felt overpriced, with activities packaged and advertised mainly to make more money. The staff looked like they’d been slapped awake every morning.

The stars at night were amazing, and I loved the observatory. We also had a great walk to the Uyo citadel and the hot springs. The horseback riding trip was really nice too, and breakfast was good.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all good, homemade and plentiful. We spent two nights here with our family, two adults and two teenagers, on August 26th 2019 and 27th. It was very clean and quiet, with a lovely atmosphere and good facilities, including a sauna, swimming pool and observatory. Thanks so much for the warm welcome and the "mate".
