We gave up on the stay and left, even though we'd paid for five nights. We complained, but don't expect we'll get a refund. The place is a shabby little shack, nothing like it was represented as. They call it a kitchenette, but it's just two hot plates that barely work. I couldn't even boil water, let alone make a meal. The bathroom is dingy and tucked under the stairs, and the only bedroom is up a very narrow, steep staircase. Its windows are about 20 feet from a busy, noisy highway, which kept us awake most of the night. They advertise Wi-Fi, but it never worked. There's no glass in the windows, just open spaces for mosquitoes and bugs to come in. Parking is difficult, and getting in and out onto the busy road is a challenge.

You'll want a car here. The bungalow is 3 km from the supermarket, 5 km from the ferry station, and well away from the tourist area. It has the basics needed to make lunch and dinner and is in good condition. The view is amazing, and the place is quiet.

The view is nice, but I wouldn't call this a safe place. Someone came into our bungalow in the middle of the night and stole our wallet. The other bungalows were hit too, and the police did nothing.

Less than 24 hours after I paid for my accommodation, the French government closed French Polynesia's borders to tourists because of COVID. I asked for my money back within that same 24-hour period, but the owner refused. She should never have accepted the booking or payment.

My trip was cancelled when the country shut down, so I haven't stayed there yet. I didn't receive a refund, but they've been very good about letting me rebook for later in the year. It's a tough situation for everyone, and I think they're trying hard to work things out with people.
