Pension Hibiscus Tahaa

The location worked really well for exploring Tahaa. We stayed two nights on a mooring, with the dinghy pier close by and easy to use. We had great food there too, and rented both a car and scooters on site.

All seven of us enjoyed our meals. The food was tasty, portions were generous, and the prices seemed reasonable to us. We’d arrived early on a mooring ball, and Tama went out of his way to arrange a taxi so we could tour the island. He was a great guy, spoke excellent English, which you don’t come across that often on Tahaa, and gave us excellent service. Dinner included free mooring for the boat, though I think only one or two usable spots were left.

We had a great time with Eric as our guide. He took us to Motu Mahaea and the Coral Garden, and the service was excellent. At the lodge, the room was satisfactory, while the restaurant food, especially the fish and its huge portions, and the service were top class. Eric, Vaitea and Vanina all went above and beyond. A great place to stay in Taha'a, strongly recommended.

There’s a handy little grocer nearby for yacht provisions. We spent the night on a mooring buoy and came ashore for dinner. The atmosphere and service were great, and the food was excellent, especially the sauces. My favourite was the savoury vanilla one. The mooring was free, and nobody expected a tip, though we were there in shoulder season, which may explain the difference from other reviews.
