The apartment's AC was nice and cold, and the staff were friendly as always. The TV wasn't working, but they kindly sent up a fruit platter, which was thoughtful. I enjoyed my weekend here.

After a busy three-month stay, I was traveling solo back to Oz and chose Gateway for a one-night stop because it's close to the airport. The pickup didn't show, but Reception staff Sophia, Joylene, and N.D. Mgr Pamela stepped up. I'd had trouble with my credit card chip recently, but with a prayer from me and Joylene's good wishes, payment went through smoothly. Pamela ordered complimentary pizza to cover the taxi fare, and Sophia showed me to my room and got me settled. As an older woman traveling alone, I felt comfortable and safe with the Gateway girls, and could properly relax after the long day and late afternoon flight.

The room has plenty of space to move around, with a separate area for studying or work. Its thoughtful layout makes it easy to be productive and relax. Professional, friendly staff deliver consistently exemplary service. The Deluxe Executive Room works well for short or extended stays, for business or leisure.

The location is perfect, but that needs to come with decent service. I paid in full a week ahead for Friday 14th and Saturday 15th November after reception told me early payment would secure my preferred room. Check-in was supposed to be 2pm on Friday, but the room wasn't ready until 6pm, and I was given a completely different room, number 608. The room had a non-cooling aircon, a light sticking out of the ceiling, a cockroach crawling from the old aircon vent, a dead phone, a TV that wouldn't turn on, smelly curtains, and a urine smell from the balcony floor. I reported the aircon problem to reception at 10.30am Saturday, but maintenance never came. Coral Sea Hotels must be profitable enough to address these embarrassing customer reviews. Thank you. The free airport shuttle and convenient location were the only positives. I arrived at 6.30pm and was told late checkouts meant my room wasn't ready. After I pushed, they found me a ground-floor room. The safe didn't work, there was no middle sheet so I slept straight under the duvet, and the mattress protector was foam rubber. The shower wouldn't drain and flooded the bathroom, while noisy neighbors kept me up late. Not a great night, and I wouldn't stay again.
