The Oriental Luxury Suites Tagaytay

We found the hotel by chance on Google Maps while looking for somewhere for wedding events. It has an antique-style interior and only seven rooms, which gives the place a private feel. The view is breathtaking, and even though it’s next to the highway, the noise is tolerable once you’re inside. Our first-floor room was peaceful and we slept well. It needs renovation and isn’t perfect, but the rest of the place was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive, with an in-house guard that made us feel secure. There’s coffee and water available around the clock, plus a bidet, hot water if you turn the knob left, comfy beds and pillows, a modern TV with cignal satellite, and good breakfast. The drawbacks were no bathroom exhaust fan or personal fridge, dim lighting with no adjustment option, some old chairs needing repair, and a small section of flooring by the pool that needs attention. Bring groceries if you want to stay in and enjoy the pool and view, and bring an adaptor. We’ll definitely be back. 😊

We were there with friends to get ready for a wedding, and had three rooms. We expected somewhere clean and attractive based on the Agoda photos, but were very disappointed. The outside looked old and unwelcoming, with closed gates that made the building seem abandoned and a parking area cluttered with debris. Inside, it was dusty and moldy, with spiderwebs, poor upkeep, and a musty smell. Our rooms were dim and damp with mold; the bathroom was filthy, with slippery floors, dirty walls, and a moldy showerhead. The furniture was stained and unclean too. There was no phone for reception, and just one staff member to help all of us. The staff member was friendly, but that couldn’t make up for the terrible condition. The hotel needs major renovation, and the misleading online photos are unacceptable. I don’t recommend staying here.

We left after about an hour, even though the room was fully paid, because we felt our health and safety mattered more. I stayed calm and didn’t raise my voice; I explained the issues when asked, and they offered another room, but we’d also learned there was only one guard at night and everyone else leaves. The manager on duty seemed surprised and apologized. As we hurried out, she offered a refund, which I hadn’t asked for, and I thanked her. On April 27, we booked a room that wasn’t available because its air conditioning didn’t work, so they “upgraded” us upstairs. That room was dirty, with blood on the towels, stained and ripped sheets, broken lamps, and outlets coming loose from the walls. The balcony and bedroom door locks didn’t work, and the bedroom chain was cut, making it seem as if someone had tried to force entry before. They moved us to a room with a balcony but told us not to use it because it was being reconstructed. They kept pushing the Presidential suite, at least four times, and mattresses barricaded the other second-floor rooms. I was afraid for our safety. The dirty towels and sheets were a health hazard, and the locks were a safety risk. I followed up on June 16 after waiting for my statement, since no refund had appeared. The manager said it would take 30-60 days. On June 22, she said the credit card payment had reached them and accounting could start processing the refund, but it would be reduced by the credit card fees the merchant bears. I said the injured customer shouldn’t have to cover merchant fees when a refund was offered, and the manager said she’d tell finance. I waited until August 2 to post, hoping they’d honor the offer. Nothing was refunded, neither the full amount nor the amount after fees. Completely unprofessional. If you care about your physical and mental well-being, don’t stay here.

We had such a good weekend celebrating our 3rd Anniversary, and I’d happily come back. The hotel Manager greeted us before check-in and thanked us for choosing the place. The crew welcomed us with drinks and carried our luggage all the way to the room. Ms. Florebeth, the hotels Manager, had arranged the room decorations, and they turned out perfectly. Really grateful to the hotel and crew for making the weekend so nice. Till next time 💜
