I’m Lachlan Zahra from Sydney, Australia, travelling in Vietnam and Japan for 44 days. I remember the dog acting as security, plus the chicken and the pig your husband was going to cook. What a shame I didn't have time to try it. Maybe next time. God bless, and have a great Chinese Lunar New Year 2026, the Year of the Horse.

The camp felt peaceful and gave me a real province experience, but getting there takes some effort. We parked outside the guide’s house for 100 pesos overnight and paid another 200 pesos for the guide. The trek took about 40 minutes to an hour. The final climb to camp was a bit steep but manageable, after mostly flat walking. The quarry section was hot and exposed, though still passable. Later, the trail went through a lovely little forest with streams and small waterfalls. Aqua shoes or slippers would be useful there. A bit of walking or jogging beforehand could help prepare you. There’s no electricity, just solar lights at night. Utensils and cooking tools are available, but you need to wash them before and after use, so don't be fussy, haha. We brought rice, canned food, snacks, a lighter, charcoal and, especially, drinking water since there are no stores up there. Dishwashing liquid is handy too. A small man-made pool is right by the camp. We went up to the summit the next day, about a five-minute walk away, and the view was stunning. It gets cold at night, so you won't need electric fans. We booked a kubo through Agoda instead of a tent, and it was comfortable, with a bed and mosquito net (kulambo). Bring OFF lotion, though. There are lots of bugs, and the ants are huge, haha. The guide came up the next day and took us back to the base. I found the trip relaxing and amazing, and it made me appreciate the little things. It humbled me too. I know how to live in the province, so I managed fine. If you don't want to cook or trek, this probably isn't the place for you. The guide said tourist numbers have dropped a lot since the camp first opened, so I think they could promote it better on social media. I'll definitely go back.

This campsite is run-down, and I wouldn't spend my time or money here. The tents, beds, kubo, toilet and mosquito nets are all worn out. It was an unpleasant stay, and you'll leave disappointed and stressed.

Unless you're bringing your own tent, I really wouldn't recommend this place. I visited five years ago and returned with friends, expecting a good stay, but it was terrible. The landlord seems very skilled at marketing and social media. The campsite appears on Tik Tok, Instagram, facebook, Tripadvisor, agoda and booking, often with photos supplied by the hosts rather than travelers. It feels like all that online promotion has come at the expense of maintenance. The campground looked abandoned, and nearly every facility was damaged or worn out. We chose the kubo because the tent couldn't be ventilated. The bed inside was covered in fallen leaves and rubbish. At night the problems became obvious. The mosquito net had many holes and couldn't be hung from the ceiling, so I fastened it to the only usable roof beam with a USB charging cable. The other beams had been eaten away by ants or other creatures and were about 95% weathered. Sleeping there felt dangerous. I barely slept and woke with 80-100 mosquito bites. The landlord said we could borrow tableware, but it was piled up dirty. More than half had food residue, and more than half also had traces of charcoal and ash. If the hosts haven't given up on this campsite, they need to put time and effort into maintaining it. Travelers who don't want to spend the night awake should bring their own tent, clean drinking water and tableware.

The tent was the worst part. It was old and dirty, and the bedding and pillows looked filthy, like they hadn't been changed after the last guests. The huge mosquitoes also bite painfully and leave swollen, uncomfortable sores. There's a pool with stagnant water that never seems to be drained or replaced. I don't understand why people use it, and the restrooms were just as disgusting. The trek was enjoyable and the guide was good, but the place itself was just an ordinary rural spot, nothing special.
