The rooms are clean and nice for a budget hotel, and it’s good value for money. Staff get a 10/10 from me, they were very helpful with our needs. Public transport is available, and it’s within the city, so everywhere is NEAR! We were a little confused by the name: it’s Nirvana Pension House, also known as Reddoorz in Rosario Street. We’ll definitely book again.
After a devastating typhoon left Bacolod City without electricity or water, I booked three nights at RedDoorz @ Nirvana Pension for my tenants, a family in urgent need of shelter. There were two young children, one only 2, and a father with medical conditions who couldn’t sleep in the heat and humidity without power. We had a confirmed, paid Agoda booking and arrived hoping for help. Instead, staff said they were fully booked and blamed internet problems for not seeing the reservation. I had working internet, but didn’t argue. They mentioned a room under maintenance without saying when it would be ready, so I left the family waiting in the lobby while I searched around Bacolod. Everywhere else was full, but the other hotels treated us with empathy and respect, even when they couldn’t help. Four exhausting hours later, I came back and found out at least four walk-in guests had been accepted while my family waited. Two rooms had been given away and two more were still available. The front desk admitted that. Then a woman who turned out to be the owner stormed in, scolded her staff, and rudely cut off our questions. She insisted there were no rooms, contradicting her own team. She argued with the wife, raised her voice, and kept insisting on things that weren’t true. That’s when I stepped in. My tenants had waited patiently for hours, and I couldn’t let them be treated this way. I asked why we couldn’t book several 3-hour blocks if the family was willing to pay. She brushed me off and called it “company policy,” but couldn’t show any proof. After all the lies, it felt like just another excuse. She eventually admitted the rooms were being kept for short-time guests, three-hour stays for people “having fun.” She offered the family a 3-hour slot, then said they had to leave. That meant a sick father and two children would have to vacate at 10 p.m. with nowhere to go. Other customers started agreeing with us, and a thoughtful woman who was a dentist offered the family her own room out of empathy. The hotel refused, saying it was “non-transferable.” The owner said the room was “only for two people,” as though the children could sleep in the lobby. They had three vacant rooms at that point and still wouldn’t reconsider, even with a concerned guest offering a solution. I had stopped expecting anything. I just wanted to respect the father’s choice not to leave anyone behind. If only two people were allowed in, he’d rather keep his family together, even if they had to stay in the lobby. I tried to stay composed. I understand that prices can change and rooms can be limited, but this felt like inhumane treatment and exploitation, not a matter of logistics. What is Bacolod becoming when businesses put short-time guests ahead of families in crisis? We had a valid booking, and rooms were available. They left us waiting four hours while taking advantage of the city’s suffering. This was more than bad service. It felt like abuse, deceit, and disgrace. Only one staff member showed any decency, quietly revealing what was happening. The rest, led by the owner, seemed greedy and cruel, with no conscience. I urge people not to support businesses that exploit people’s misery and emergencies for profit. Bacolod deserves better. Families deserve better. Humanity deserves better.
Being close to SM City Bacolod and the City Bus South Terminal was convenient, but the rooms were a letdown. A friend booked two rooms for two nights, and in mine the faucet was broken, the air conditioner was dusty and seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in six months, and there were only TWO wall outlets for charging. Both rooms had cockroaches, and the bathroom smelled. For what we paid, rooms with faulty items shouldn't be rented out as if they match what was advertised. I've stayed in better pension houses.
The room was okay, but the area felt a little sketchy at night. Still, the room itself was decent.
I checked in during the typhoon. I'll just leave the photos I took here: a moldy ceiling, a dirty a/c, a dead cockroach, and an extra towel hanging there. Maybe it had been used, I don't know.
