Balai by Dogtown

We really enjoyed our weekend here, and the staff were helpful and sweet. There are dogs around too, which was a big plus for us. For surfing in Baler, the location works really well, with affordable restaurants and coffee spots all around. The room had what we needed, and there are two shared kitchens if you’d rather cook. Freelancers and nomads can use the co-working space, and the internet was solid. We also tried the weekend rooftop yoga with a professional instructor, and had a great time. Thanks!

The view deck was a favorite spot, with a view of almost the whole Sabang islet. They sometimes hold small gatherings there, including yoga with live sitar music and occasional DJ sessions. Nearby, there’s a casual “tambay” area with a restaurant, surf shop, and little kiosks selling clothes and other things. It’s handy to have all that on the property if you’re staying a few days. Balai by Dogtown is a laid-back place, especially if you like friendly, well-trained dogs. The owners are a couple of avid surfers, easy to talk to and accommodating. There are private rooms and a hostel, plus a co-working space. Shared kitchen and dining areas are available beside the owners’ house and at the hostel, which makes it easy to settle in. The beach is about a minute away on foot, and cafés and restaurants are nearby. You can rent surfboards, bikes, and motorcycles for getting around or heading out to surf when conditions are good.

The property was cozy and peaceful, and Sabang Beach is just a short walk away. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby too. Our host was proactive and accommodating, which made everything feel seamless. We had a wonderful stay!

Kuya Mario is so welcoming and nice, and I had the best time. If you love furry encounters, I’d give this a 10/10. Already counting down until I can come back! 🫶🏻😽
