Sulu Plaza Boracay

I chose this hotel when I booked in early October, since I wanted somewhere away from the noise and crowds of Station 2. It’s in Station 3, with easy beach access. The building and decor are fairly old, but still nice, and the rooms are roomy compared with newer ones. There’s a Thai restaurant out front and laid-back bars nearby. Staff were polite and pleasant. They were doing maintenance and upgrades for peak season, so workers were around during the day. The wifi was good, and there’s a desk for remote work. If you smoke, you can do it outside your room or in the alley outside the hotel.

We went with two seniors, and the staff were especially attentive and accommodating, even during monsoon season. Everyone was courteous from check-in through checkout, and their care really made a difference. The location in Station 3 is peaceful, scenic, right on the beach, and easy to get around from. The rooms are dated, but clean and spacious, with what we needed for a comfortable stay. We also liked the Thai restaurant downstairs. They let us bring our own food and use their facilities and utensils, which was very kind and flexible. Our stay at Sulu Plaza Lodge from July 19-23 was memorable. It may not be the island’s most modern place, but it’s a relaxed beachfront option with warm service and practical comforts. We’d happily return.

Sulu bar felt kind of like a scam to me. They wanted way too much for drinks. Pretty disappointing, I guess the owner is just kind of greedy.

We stopped here for lunch when we first got to Boracay. The food was okay, though some of the flavors were hard for us to make sense of. The banana shake was good, and they take credit cards, if that helps. We tried a few dishes.
