We did get a full refund, which is why I gave one star, but the experience disrupted our trip. To go to Boracay, you need proof of a stay at an accredited hotel. Reef Retreat told us they were accredited when we asked. At the port, though, the authorities said they weren't. Reef Retreat told us by phone they were accredited but missing from the list for some reason, and that they were working to fix it soon. We had to book another hotel at the last minute so we could get to the island. I can't say whether they are accredited or not, but I wanted to share what happened for other potential customers.

The gate opens onto the kiteboarding beach at Bulabog, in a quiet part of Boracay that felt too quiet. The road outside is very dark, with no lamp posts. More lighting inside the property, plus a guard or two and perhaps CCTV, would help. On our second morning, we woke to police activity in the compound after a burglary reportedly happened the night before. I don't know the details, but security didn't seem very good. I hope they improve both the lighting and security.

We were robbed while asleep at this resort on April 20, 2022. Our phones, cash, and jewelry were taken. We reported it to the police and management, then asked if they could refund the unused days because we no longer wanted to stay there. We waited a long time and got no answer or compensation. Police found a knife near our room. It made us wonder what could have happened if the thieves had killed us. There was no security person in charge at night and no CCTV around the area. After the robbery, no owner or staff member showed concern, even though we had no cash or phones to use. We ran out looking for help, but nobody was there. Our lives had been threatened, and the response felt inhumane and very unprofessional. Safety should be a priority. Please show some decency.

The area was under construction, with dust, noise, concrete, and heavy machinery everywhere, and there was no sea view. We also had no electricity, so there was no air conditioning, fridge, hot water, or lighting. Staff could only be reached from 9am to 6pm. The photos and promised services didn't match what we found, so I felt the hotel misled customers. Bookings were non-refundable, and even after changing hotels, they insisted we pay for the entire booked stay. What a surprise. The photo below shows the promised place versus reality. Bulabag Beach is the quieter side, and White Beach's busy area is about a 10-minute walk away, or you can take a trike. There are opportunities for kite surfing, wind surfing, and diving. The rooms are lovely, and you can get a suite if you'd like a small kitchen. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
