I stayed at Red Planet Cagayan de Oro on a recent trip and found it clean, modern, and good value. The parking is a big drawback: there are very few spaces, and it's first come, first served. If you drive out for dinner or to see the city, someone will likely take your spot while you're gone. People who need guaranteed parking will have to plan around that, perhaps using public transport or ride-hailing. The location is hard to beat, right beside SM CDO Downtown Premier. The mall is less than a minute away on foot, with restaurants, cafes, groceries, and shops close by, so getting around for food and errands is easy and saves on local transport. Inside, the hotel has a crisp, contemporary feel. The compact rooms use the space well without extra clutter, and have a comfortable bed with quality linens, a powerful workstation, and a private bathroom with a great power shower. The AC worked flawlessly in the CDO heat, and the complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi was fast enough for streaming or work. Everything felt functional and spotless. For budget-conscious travelers looking for a no-frills downtown stay, it covers the essentials of comfort, cleanliness, security, and location without the unused extras of a luxury hotel.

The breakfast was magnificent, especially the delicious wagyu cubes and salmon belly daing. The staff were really friendly, and staying right beside SM made everything convenient. Everything was nice. I'd come back, 10/10.

Being right beside SM Downtown made things easy, especially with a DFA appointment. The room was clean and the shower had both hot and cold water. But the TV remote wouldn’t switch it off, and I couldn’t unplug it, so it stayed on all night. For this price, I’d like to see better amenities, maybe a little fridge, utensils for guests bringing food, free drinking water, and a small toothpaste like I’ve had in hotels in Thailand.

The receptionist was kind, and the queen bed worked comfortably for two adults and our child. We chose the place because it's right by SM Downtown, handy for passport renewal. Some basics could be improved, like having a water heater and a chair, but it was okay overall. We'd come back.

The check-in took longer than it should have, with just one person at reception. Still, the rooms were very clean, and the price felt like good value for basic service. They were a little cramped, but the location is hard to beat, beside SM and behind lots of restaurants. Cleanliness made the stay satisfactory.
