Gigantes Islands was, I think, the highlight of the area, and the staff at Huni resort were wonderful. We also had a really good time trekking Mt. Opao. It takes about an hour up and another hour back down, and it’s worth doing, though you need to be reasonably fit. I was 56 when I did it and managed with my usual 30-minute walks at least three times a week. Parts of the trail were muddy where it follows rainwater paths, and a bit rocky too, so bring good trekking sandals or shoes. We came in December 2025. If you want a peaceful retreat, this may be the place, but Huni’s shores aren’t good for swimming when the tide leaves the water very shallow. They said April or May is the best time to visit.

It’s a quiet, relaxing paradise, and the clean beach has calm water, clear as can be, with white sand. The pool is beautiful, the room clean and nice, and the food is fine. The service was okay, though not superb. Getting there is the downside, it’s far away and difficult to access, but the place is worth the effort.

The pool was great and well maintained, and the beachfront was nice, with clear water and plenty of activities to try. We liked the food, especially the chicken binakol, grilled stuffed squid and baked scallops. The bar cocktails were fine during the B1T1 happy hour, and the mojos are worth trying. Getting to the island takes a while, but it’s worth it. If you’re not flying privately to Sicogon, Roxas is the closest airport. The rooms are spacious and clean, though we had to ask for the bathroom to be cleaned because it kept smelling, probably from the drains. Shower pressure was weak, and our TV didn’t work properly. Small annoyances. There are no slippers unless you buy them, and no conditioner. A dental kit is available on request. Smart users get little to no telco signal, but WiFi is available, though sometimes slow.

Six days didn’t feel like enough, though once I got home I found myself missing "HUNI" and Sicogon. The island’s beauty will stay with me, and I’m sure we’ll be back soon. Thank you for such a wonderful stay! The staff were very accommodating, and the welcome drink was ginger tea with honey. The food and drinks were great. Ms.Jamaica, Mr. Jason and the kitchen staff were especially good at helping guests, as were nearly all the others.

Being able to sit with coffee and look out at the beach is priceless. I love Huni Sicogon’s location, and the rooms were spacious and clean, with accommodating staff. My only suggestion is to provide indoor slippers for guests. When I couldn’t find any, I called reception thinking they might be available on request, but was told they don’t provide slippers. It’s a minor point and I’d still give five stars. You can arrange a Gigantes Islands tour with pickup from Sicogon Port. If it’s within your budget, the Premier room overlooks the ocean.
