Gonzales Hotel

The building and rooms are new, and the staff were courteous. The location is convenient in the city center, near the airport and SM Mall. There’s also a restaurant cafe, KTV music rooms, and meeting rooms. My Deluxe Room had a slight musty smell, though I couldn’t tell whether it came from the air conditioning or the drain. Breakfast was free, but during my stay it was limited to one pork dish. The air-conditioning display was too bright for a bedroom. Still, it was a good stay.

Friendly service, clean rooms, and comfortable beds made for a great stay. Gonzales Hotel did better than I expected.

The staff were all so friendly, smiling and making the stay feel warm. They even offered me a welcome drink. My issue was the room I got. At ₱1599, I didn’t expect much from the travellers' room, but Room 204 felt like a makeshift space squeezed in to use the area around the ventilation and sunroof. Part of it wasn’t enclosed by a solid wall. The vent area, which looked a bit like a patio, had a glass panel wall, with only a curtain between it and my bed. Since the building is on a busy street with frequent traffic and drivers honking without thinking, the room was really noisy. Around 8 am, two staff members were talking loudly right outside that room and woke me up. I felt too shy to say anything. If you have a choice, pick another room and avoid Room 204. I hope they can improve it.
