Allsons' Inn

I had to use a bucket shower in my first room because it was noisy and the shower didn't work. I asked to switch, and the second room was comfortable with no complaints. There's a gym, and the hotel can be good value for the price, especially through Agoda. Its location is strategic, but wifi doesn't reach most rooms, so make sure you've got enough Globe data. Some rooms clearly need better upkeep. Staff can also give long explanations and excuses instead of a direct answer to a simple question, which gets frustrating.

The internet never worked during our three-night stay. The towels were awful too, thin and so worn that they weren't even fit to use as floor wipes. We asked for replacements and got more of the same, which says plenty about the hygiene. Maintenance and guest comfort seemed like no one's concern. We'd requested a quiet room but got what was probably the loudest one on the property, right on the main street, with constant noise. The bathroom had standing water across the toilet floor, like a little pool. Instead of fixing it, they gave us a manual water dispenser to push the water away. Seriously, who does that in 2025? When we asked to change rooms, they said the hotel was full. As soon as we said we wanted a refund and would leave, another room suddenly opened up. It was only slightly better. A broken pipe in the wall let sink water leak through and flood the floor every time we used it. We didn't report it again because the maintenance standards were already obvious. Poor maintenance, hygiene, and honesty make this a place I wouldn't recommend.

If you do stay here, book through a third-party provider, since walk-in rates are a bit higher. The room is okay for its price, especially with that kind of booking, but affordability doesn't excuse poor service or missing basics. There are no slippers, much of the menu isn't available, and despite being in the CBD, there's no wifi or backup connection. The CR wasn't nice either, so slippers would've helped. We booked overnight so we could get work done, but the internet was gone and we had to rely on mobile data. When we called the FD, they didn't seem eager to help or even express regret about the inconvenience. It was sad and frustrating. The place is far from the so-called “flooded areas,” and power and internet had already returned in most places, especially within the CBD. Your customer service could be better, since staff showed no empathy when we explained we needed the wifi to work. If you're not working remotely and just need somewhere to sleep, it may suit you. For working, it isn't suitable because the connection is very slow or nonexistent.

This was my second time staying at Allsons Inn, and it was disappointing. I work remotely, so reliable internet matters, but there was no connection each night and the repeated wifi problems made getting work done very difficult. I also asked for fresh towels and blankets, but they couldn't bring them right away. After I called to follow up, they arrived the next day. I was told there were no extras available. For someone needing to work remotely, both the internet and the delay with basic items made this stay a letdown.
