Amber Hotel - Cebu

We stayed four nights and I barely found any flaws. The staff were super friendly, quick, and responsive when I needed something. Breakfast was included and yummy, and the restaurant had a luxurious atmosphere. The room felt luxurious and comfortable too. There’s a rooftop bar with a beautiful view at night and a decent pool for swimming. Maybe adding a gym would make guests even happier. Love this place!

We booked through Trip.com for around MYR150, about PHP2,228. The hotel felt modern overall and we had a comfortable stay. Breakfast came with our package, but it wasn’t a buffet, more of an Ala crate selection. They don’t leave water in the room, though refills are available outside. One downside: the shower stall isn’t fully enclosed, so water splashes out into the bathroom.

The area felt safe and secure, and the location was convenient. Staff helped bring our luggage to the room, and breakfast was delicious, with fruit included. There were a few inconveniences during the stay: staff may mix up your booking dates, so keep your voucher handy to prove the dates you booked. We had only one roll of toilet paper for three people over several days, and the elevator was very noisy with no soundproofing.

Comfortable beds, friendly staff, and a location near Chong Hua are the positives. But it was hard to relax here. There was an awful gutter smell in the basement and at the hotel entrance, sometimes even inside the elevator. Parking in the basement was steep and cramped, with no attendant. Our room was at the end of the ninth-floor hallway, where a persistent acidic smell reached inside. The AC was loud, and with no soundproofing we could hear street noise from our room facing the road. Don’t expect a good night’s sleep. The bathroom setup was weird and uncomfortable, just a glass divider between it and the bed. If you want a relaxing stay after a busy day, look elsewhere.
