After I checked out and reached the airport, a hotel employee messaged me on WhatsApp to say I’d left my credit card in the room. They kept it for me while I figured out whether I could pass through Cebu again on my journey. When I told them I couldn’t make it back, they kindly destroyed the card. I really appreciate them going above and beyond.

For what I paid, this was absolutely not worth it. The beds were just two single mattresses pushed together, with a sheet barely keeping them in place, and they were super uncomfortable. Security also felt basically nonexistent, since anyone could walk in from the street without being questioned. The location is a 15-minute walk to town or a 10-minute Grab ride, so I’d stay elsewhere and take a Grab into town if needed. I overpaid for a place that really fits “you get what you pay for.” There’s a bus stop right outside, and its air horns were super loud every five minutes. We could hear everything from the busy street and our neighbours, including all their extra activities. Disappointing experience at Amethyst Boutique Hotel.

The room and staff were okay, but the massage service next door was a bad experience. I went twice on two consecutive days, and the customer service was disappointing both times. If all the slots are booked, they could simply say so politely instead of making us feel like they weren’t interested in serving us or answering questions. Another courtesy issue: the laundry express service has a top-up when service is closed on Sunday. I don’t mind paying, but they should tell customers about the extra charge beforehand, not when we collect the laundry.

We’ve stayed here twice and would definitely recommend it. The staff are friendly, approachable, and attentive. The room was spacious, homey, and classy. We’ll be back next time.
