Golden Valley Hotel

The staff were excellent. I’m sure they would have helped if I’d raised the issue, but I didn’t check in until 4 a.m. after my flight was delayed. The room was very basic, and I regretted paying extra for a higher grade because it was the same. The window AC was really noisy, and an alarm kept going off down the hall.

The room they eventually gave us was much lower quality and had a very loud air-con. At least it was clean, though the place was noisy. We had a confirmed reservation through booking, but when we arrived the receptionist said they had no room for us and offered an upgrade that would cost extra. We didn’t want to pay more when it was clearly their mistake, but she didn’t seem to understand. She gave us the lower-quality room instead.

I reached Golden Valley Inn Pelaez at midnight on August 9, 2025, after twelve exhausting hours on the road through heavy rain and flooding. I was soaked and carrying all my bags, but the lobby had no receptionist, just a guard who said there were no rooms. Nobody showed much concern or mentioned that I could book online. In a taxi afterward, I checked a booking app and saw that rooms were available. I could have avoided another trip through the rain and floodwater if they had told me. I had to find another cab and stop at a 7-Eleven to search for nearby hotels. Turning away a tired traveler in those conditions, especially when rooms could be booked, felt unacceptable. I took the attached photo on my way there. Places with more basic courtesy and efficiency are available, so I'd avoid this one.

The booking cost through booking.com was twice the room price we found when we got to the property. My friend had reserved two rooms for us there, so I'd avoid using the site for this place. The bed linen was dirty when I entered: there was black powder and hair on it. I tried changing the pillowcase and found what looked like boogers on the pillow.
