They gave us a better room, and it was spacious, but it had a hole in the wall and the toilet ceiling was open. The hole let in mosquitoes and leaked, and the pipes over the toilet bowl started leaking the next day. The bathroom floor has no drain, so it floods. The cabinets were dusty, and there was a used toothbrush inside. We told reception, but they offered no solution and didn’t even apologize.

The staff were friendly and attentive, and one good thing is that the German Consul is just downstairs. Breakfast was fine, though the salad hadn’t been washed well. The price was higher than what I paid last December, and there were little flies buzzing around and biting me, which was itchy. The bathroom especially needs more attention to cleaning and maintenance. They also weren’t accepting online bookings.

The location worked really well for us: there’s an ATM right next door, a 24-hour 7/11 on the corner, and a Korean restaurant beside the hotel. A grocery store is about five blocks away, and two malls are roughly 15 minutes by taxi or minibus. There’s also a smoking area just outside the lobby, and having a foreign consulate resident in the hotel made security feel good. The staff were very friendly. The rooms were Motel 6 standard, but clean, with hot water and A/C. The price was great, and for a few more pesos you can have breakfast brought to your room between 0700-0730 each morning.

The maintenance guy was the only person who was kind enough to help us. The rest of the stay was a nightmare. There was no soap, shampoo, or glass or cup to use, and the roof was dripping. The room had spotty signal and the hotel WiFi didn’t work at all. Even though I’d fully paid for the week before arriving, the older woman at the front desk accused me of not paying in front of other guests.
