Hotel Pier Cuatro

The staff are friendly, and the buffet breakfast is quite good for the price. Rooms are clean but old and could use some retouching; the liquid soap dispenser was broken. Internet wasn't stable. Cold and hot water, plus coffee, creamer, and sugar, were always available by the elevator on each floor with guest rooms. Robinson Galleria and Pier 4 are only a few meters away, and SM City is a short ride.

The breakfast is included, but it was mediocre, had little variety, and didn't seem fresh or appetizing. It might fill you up, but don't expect to enjoy it. For the price, there are better options in Cebu that are cleaner, more comfortable, and better managed. Cleanliness was poor from the start. Surfaces were dusty, corners hadn't been cleaned properly, and the sheets and towels didn't feel fresh. The room gave me the impression that housekeeping misses details. The floors weren't properly clean, yet there were no hotel slippers. The bathroom was especially frustrating. The shower hose was extremely short, and there was no bidet, dipper, or proper water facility. If you need to wash after using the toilet, you're left with tissue, which feels inadequate here. Amenities were sparse and cheap-feeling, with little comfort or thought in the setup. Even a working hair dryer was missing or below standard. It felt like corners were being cut on cleanliness, facilities, and basic guest comfort. Save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else.

The staff were helpful and accommodating, and quickly brought us a bucket and dipper when we asked. Our standard room didn't have a bidet. The room was affordable, and the hotel is conveniently in the city near a mall. We stayed two nights for an event, and cleanliness was the part that let us down. The linens had stains, the AC was noisy, and its fan seemed broken, repeatedly hitting the window. There was a musty, mold-like smell. My partner and I were sneezing and wheezing during the stay, and after checkout I developed a runny nose and itchy throat. Maybe it was because we had a standard room, but cleanliness and air quality should be consistent regardless of room type. I'd give the stay 3.5 out of 5. The staff and location were great, but the cleanliness and air issues affected our experience, especially since we got sick afterward.

What keeps bringing me back to Hotel Pier Cuatro is the customer service. Once, my trip was cancelled because of a typhoon, and Agoda wouldn't let me cancel or change my booking. The hotel really tried to adjust my dates, and rescheduled me for a safe travel date after the typhoon's landfall. They exceeded my expectations. I've booked here several times because the location is perfect for processing things at PRC or DFA in Robinson's Galleria. The lobby and staff are welcoming, too.
