Solea Mactan Resort and Waterpark

The room was superb and the employees were courteous and accommodating. The food was good, but they told me late that the dish I wanted wasn't available. I wish they'd let me know sooner, while I was waiting. The restaurant staff apologized and offered me sikwati, which was so good. That delay is what affected my rating. Still, I had a great stay and will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

The breakfast exceeded expectations, with probably 100 or more options, and the water obstacle course was a blast, even though I got knocked around. I also loved the relaxed vibe and amazing staff at the rooftop bar, plus the view. Drinks were a little pricey. The beach was modest and nice, though the bottom was pretty mushy. The pools, especially the “fish tank” one, made for good pictures. With lots of kids' pools, they could designate one of the five or six pools for adults and maybe add a swim-up bar. It's a resort, and a cocktail pool would be nice. The gym was one of the best hotel gyms I've seen in all my travels. We were in building 1, and it was a short walk to the gym on the sixth floor of building three. I wake up at 5:30 to work out by 6, but the gym didn't open until 8. I went to the front desk at 6:10, thinking my card wasn't working, and they told me the hours. After the first day I threw a bit of a tantrum. You don't mess with gym time. They had it open for me by 6:20, lol. The machines were excellent quality, clean, well maintained, and in great working order, with no frayed cable sheaths. My only nitpick is that they should remove the tricep dip machine, move the bicep curl machine into its spot, and install an ISO row machine. I could do my usual pull day except for ISO rows, which I replaced with inverted rows on the power rack. We had a double room, 975, for my mother-in-law and daughter, and a king-size room, 974, for my wife and me so we could have privacy. They kindly gave us adjoining rooms, but didn't tell us the connecting doors didn't lock or even close all the way. They said they'd fix it, then told us they couldn't because they didn't have hinges that would work. We had to move a nightstand in front of the door on our side. Our room also wasn't ready when we arrived at 3pm, and we waited until 5:15pm. That did work in our favor somewhat, since they let us check out at 1pm instead of 11am. I have a house about 30 minutes away and spend around two months a year here. Despite the issues, the stay was good enough that I'd return when I'm back in August.

Jessa made our time here special. I'm vegan, and she went above and beyond to make sure my meal was really delicious. She was so kind that she chatted with me while my husband got food from the buffet, and he kept raving about how everything tasted. We had a lovely meal and stay, thanks to the great service. I'd give Jessa 10/5 stars if I could. Thanks, Jessa!

The food was great, especially the freshly fried calamari, and we tried several drinks, including mojitos, margaritas, and a delicious Sex on the Beach. We weren't sure what to order, but our waitress Kristin Mierie knew the menu and made several suggestions. She checked on us often, kept the table clean, and refreshed our drinks. Very professional service, and a breath of fresh air. Thank you, Kristin. The rooftop at Salt & Sky rooftop bar at Soles hotel an resort was a great place to take in the bay and resort grounds, with all the pools, the kids' slide, and a mini waterpark. We felt warmly welcomed when we arrived, like they were happy to see us. The supervisor, Ms Rejane, was kind and attentive, and seemed respected by her staff. The place was packed, but she ran it professionally. Thanks so much. I highly recommend the bar and can't wait to come back.
