Balaibinda Lodge

The quiet made it easy to sleep, even though Balaibinda is close to town. The port and the places we wanted to eat were all within walking distance, so going out or coming back in was simple. We also had friendly, welcoming staff and a complimentary breakfast with lots of choices. The Wi-Fi stayed strong in our room and reached speeds of up to 100 Mbps, which worked well for remote work.

I’d gladly stay at Balaibinda Lodge again. The beds were comfortable, the room had air conditioning and hot water, and the location was central, with only a short tricycle ride to the port. What really stood out was how the staff helped when I got very sick from food poisoning from Cebu. They called an ambulance when I was too ill to get to a doctor, and after I returned, someone went to a local restaurant to get me food. I really appreciated everything they did.

The staff were very helpful, and you can walk to most things you’ll need, like the drug store, convenience store, coffee shops, restaurants and dock. Space for unloading luggage is limited, so it seems better suited to backpacks than big suitcases. I had a queen-sized bed. Breakfast is simple but better than most. Coffee is available from 6 AM, while you order the food the night before and can get it from 7 AM. Airport transfers cost 250 PhP for a shared van with guests from other hotels. Wi-Fi here is unreliable, and mobile data is poor around the area. Friends tell me other hotels aren’t any better, and Wi-Fi is similarly weak at cafes and restaurants. My third-floor room on the roof deck didn’t help. For this price range, though, I don’t think there’s a better choice. This is about as good as it gets.

The staff were great, including helping me rent a motorcycle, and I really liked the breakfast. My room was clean and quiet, with a comfortable bed, a good shower and no problems with the AC. It’s near the dock where island tours start, and after a tour you can walk back instead of waiting for transport. The location in Coron town proper is convenient, and the price is reasonable. One of the best lodges nearby, and I’d recommend it.
