Coron Gateway Hotel and Suites

It's a practical base for Coron trips, particularly island hopping. Lualhati Park and the main port are next door, so it's easy to get to the departure point for Coron Island tours early in the morning. The room had plenty of space to spread out and repack gear. The place is showing its age, but works well for a short stay of 1-3 nights if you're mainly here for the tours.

The rooms are large, and cleaning was acceptable, though not especially thorough. There were tiny ants around the bathroom sink when we arrived, and they stayed throughout our visit. Staff communication can be tricky, both among themselves and between reception and the kitchen. The location is good and the staff are friendly and welcoming. There's no elevator. Breakfast is cooked to order, and you can either book it with the room or pay separately.

Friendly and helpful people, and a great spot within walking distance of downtown and where the boat tours meet. I'd definitely stay here again.

Getting a reply before your stay is unlikely if you need to ask anything. The hotel is dirty, and there are rats. When I wanted to make a complaint form, they told me to email the manager, who they said was on vacation, as an excuse for the poor customer service. As you can see in the pictures, there's a fence meant to stop rats from coming in to share your bed.
