Flushing Meadows Resort and Playground

The resort grounds are pretty nice, and the staff are friendly and always smiling. That still couldn’t make up for the run-down rooms and terrible amenities. The toilet stopped working and ran all night. The fan was too noisy to leave on, and the AC sounded like it had a diesel engine attached. The room smelled of exhaust, and breakfast was absolutely horrendous. You can’t walk on the beach without sandals, and they charge more for water than anywhere else I’ve seen in the entire Phillipines.

The owner is very nice, but I wouldn’t trust the staff with vehicle arrangements. Twice, they gave the car we had requested to other guests, leaving us waiting in the lobby and making us late for our event. They apologized, but that didn’t undo my wife’s wounds and bruises after the tuktuk they substituted for our car got into an accident.

The breakfast was great, especially the man running it and the omelette and egg station. We paid a small fee after negotiating a room upgrade, and got a much larger room with a terrace, sea view, and great aircon. It’s near the ex pat area, which is more chilled and has a good number of bars and restaurants.

The rooms were dirty and outdated, and check-in took forever because the woman at the front desk sat on her phone and ignored me. She really didn’t understand customer service. I was charged for two nights even though I stayed only one, and they wouldn’t refund the extra charge, saying it was an Agoda problem. Just terrible.
