Orchard Hotel

I liked the room a lot: it was spacious, clean, and had modern amenities, plus a comfortable bed and a nice view from the window. The classic decor gave the place a welcoming feel. Staff were warm and attentive from the moment I arrived, and check-in was easy. The location made it simple to get to local attractions and places to eat. There was a good variety of tasty food at the on-site restaurant, and the service stayed strong throughout. A pleasant, relaxing place to stay.

We stayed here last Tuesday. It's near SM Lanang and across from Davao Water District, but keep in mind there isn't an elevator. I believe the hotel has three floors, and you'll need to use the stairs for an upper-floor room, though staff can help with luggage. The room was okay, and there's a refundable 300-peso deposit as long as nothing is damaged. It's fine if you just need a place to sleep and plan to visit SM Lanang or Davao Crocodile Park, and aren't fussy about the room. Even so, take those points into account. I'd recommend looking elsewhere if possible.

The room was fine for an overnight stop, and the city location is convenient. My bestie booked a single night so we could rest after a long hike, but I only stayed a few hours before an early flight. The building has four floors and no elevator, which was a bit of a hassle with our luggage and tired legs. A kind male attendant carried our big hiking bags from the drop-off point to the room. The receptionist that evening barely spoke to us and didn't feel welcoming; the attendant was much more helpful. The TV was there, but its network connection was poor, more like background noise than something to watch. The towels also felt rough and unpleasant after using them.

The location worked really well for my conference: public transport is right outside, SM Lanang is close, and Roxas Night Market, GMall, Abreeza, and Bankerohan are a jeepney ride away. My taxi from the airport cost ₱135.50. For five nights I paid under Php6,000, and although check-in is at 3pm, they let me in a little after 2pm. The refundable deposit is Php300, and they hand over the TV remote too. I stayed in room 214 for three nights and 314 for two. Both were surprisingly clean. This is a dated, three-storey hotel without an elevator, but staff can help with bags. I bring my own comforts, like a pillow, towels, toiletries, and other things. They provided basic soap and a towel. The shower stall has a recessed shelf that's handy for toiletries. There's no safe in room 214, but room 314 has one. The hot water wasn't working at first in my second room. I'm used to hot shower devices, so I pressed test and reset and got it going. It was very hot for me, though probably fine for others, and I could adjust it with the knobs. WiFi was slow but okay for messages and email, not video streaming, and it didn't reach the third floor. I'd book here again if I had an event near SM Lanang.
