Jared Suites

The blood-colored handprints on the wall really finished off the creepy motel atmosphere. There was a strong mothball smell, dirty sheets, and barely any usable shower pressure. It had that “short time hotel, in denial, minus the mirrors” feel I’d apparently been looking for. A superstitious girlfriend would probably freak out and make you sleep in the car.

The staff were accommodating and brought us extra bedding and towels, and the rooms had plenty of storage. We stayed over Chinese New Year. The building is old and showing its age, but the rooms were spacious and functional, and the bathroom was good. Hot water seemed to depend on how much sun there’d been that day, and I had to wait a few minutes for it to heat up. Good value for money.

I left and booked another nearby hotel that same day. When I first went into my room here, it was very dirty, smelled awful, and had no towels. I told reception why I was leaving, but after taking my payment they didn’t seem to care. The poor staff service made the whole facility feel very inadequate.

There’s plenty of parking in an enclosed area, and it’s quiet, just a short way from the main road. The two bedrooms were fine and the AC units worked well, but the shared bathroom is very small. The kitchen faucet water leaves an aftertaste, even when brushing your teeth. The kitchen, dining area, and sala also have dim lighting that makes the place feel sad. A full-length mirror would be helpful too.
