Yoo C Apartment

The hostess made our stay memorable by going out of her way to help when my husband needed a last-minute hospital check-up. She drove us there, waited until we were finished, and made sure we got back safely. We were incredibly grateful for her kindness. Yoo C Apartment was also clean, comfortable, and safe. It overlooks a secure, enclosed garden, which made for a peaceful view. Inside, the double bed and plush pillows made for a restful night, the air conditioning was a relief from the heat, and the kitchen had a fridge and the cooking utensils we needed. The bathroom was spotless, with a refreshing shower. I highly recommend it.

Cherry, the host's wife, was lovely, cheerful, polite, helpful, and attentive. The internet was just about good enough for watching TV, and the secure compound had a neat garden. Things ended up OK, but we had a rough start. In the first apartment with the Queen bed, the faulty AC kept switching off. The second night it went off for hours, which made the room especially uncomfortable. The host brought a fan, which helped, and moved me next door the following night. That AC was only just OK, but the fan kept the room cool enough. The shower head leaked so badly it was almost unusable. The host's husband replaced it after I complained. The replacement wasn't new, but worked fine, although he didn't seem happy about having to change it. The apartment was spacious enough and had a decent setup for cooking. The area was quiet apart from dogs and cockerels, and about a 10-minute walk from the main road by City Mall. From there you can catch a trike anywhere, with the public market area costing 20 pesos per person. There was also a fruit and vegetable market about a 10-minute walk away. I wasn't told in advance about the city's scheduled 12-hour power outage. The electricity went off at 6am, and while I understand that was out of the host's control, advance notice would have let me make other plans. There were also lots of instruction and rule signs on the room walls. I don't mind that in itself, but one sign didn't seem truthful and felt meant to scare guests into saving electricity. It said there WILL BE A FIRE if you leave the AC on when you leave the room.

It's a quiet, private place, and the owner is kind and accommodating. The toilets don't flush properly, though.

The staff were helpful, service was great, and the contact person was very accommodating. The rooms were clean, but much smaller than I expected. It's off the main road, down a path that can get muddy in the rain, so it's not the easiest place to walk to if you don't know the area.
