The U Pension

We booked a family room, and Agoda said it would have a city view. But we were told family rooms don’t have windows. The toilet smell also drifted into the room, and there was no exhaust fan. The location is great for the pier, university, and Rizal boulevard. For the price, it was okay.

The staff were good, and the WiFi and water pressure worked fine. It’s also a convenient area, with shops, restaurants, and pharmacies together, and having an elevator is a plus. The bathroom needs a serious update, though: no shower, bidet, pail, or dipper, and the grout needs refreshing.

There are good restaurants all around, including some right next door, and scenic Rizal baywalk is close by. You can walk to the ferry terminal even with luggage. The staff were nice, the rooms were B+, and it’s great value. I’d come back. I’d call it 4.5 stars, but since I have to choose 4 or 5, I’m giving it the half point. One thing to know: there’s a 1000 PhP security deposit, which they promptly return if you haven’t put a hole in the wall.

We paid less than 2,000php for a family of 4, and the room was spacious, with towels and toiletries provided. Bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste. The roof deck was a lovely place for a relaxed breakfast, and there are plenty of food options nearby. It’s super convenient, 50m from the boulevard and within walking distance of the port to Siquijor. There’s no water dispenser, and the TV only has cable, no Netflix or YouTube. The staff were polite and helpful, and we’d stay again.
