The place looks like it has a lot of promise, which makes the condition even more disappointing. Our room wasn't checked during our stay, there was no toilet paper for a couple of days, and the ashtray we used in the smoking area stayed unchanged for four days. Staff service was okay, and I think they were doing what they could, but it felt like we paid for very little. We asked about tours and never got the information, and food had to be paid for as soon as we ordered it. We booked because the website photos looked amazing, but the resort didn't match them. The pool water was dirty and extremely warm, so we couldn't use it. The billiard pool was really fun, though. I don't blame the workers, but I wouldn't recommend staying more than one night unless you have to.

The shuttle was reliable and the service was okay, though it often felt as if the place wasn't ready for guests or didn't really want us there. Our room at 89 Villas was a bit run down, and the shower kept flooding. On our final night, El Nido had a power outage, which also left us without running water. It seemed to happen fairly often, so I can't really blame the hotel for that. With the room's fairly steep price, I'd give the stay only three stars.

Even though the typhoon meant we had to cancel our trip, the hotel team treated us with such warmth. They understood our situation and handled everything quickly and professionally. Their kindness and helpfulness left a lovely impression. We hope to make it to El Nido soon and stay at this lovely hotel in person. Thanks again, we're looking forward to meeting you all one day! 🌴✨

Silay feels like a real step up from Lexias. I stayed in the communal hostel, while 89 Villas offers a separate, more private option. The hostel was clean and spacious, making it a comfortable base at a budget friendly price. For work, there are co-working areas, Starlink WiFi, and attentive staff, all in a beautiful setting. It's one of the better work and downtime combinations I've found in El Nido. There were few guests during my visit, so I nearly had the whole expansive property to myself, including the co-working spaces and sunset deck. It was peaceful, though it also seems ready to become a great place for travelers to connect when more guests are around. I'm happy to see more nomads and solo travelers discover it. If you want reliable comfort, good service, and a sunset view you might have to yourself, Silay is worth considering.

We paid nearly 50,000 PHP for five nights, got only a 3,500 PHP refund through Expedia, and left El nido a night early because the problems cut our vacation short. There were no other hotels available in El Nido then. The view and shuttle were the only positives. Breakfast was cold, drinking water cost extra, and we had large lizards in the room. Water and electricity repeatedly went out, sometimes for hours. Despite asking every day, we couldn't get management to come by, and Expedia wasn't much help either. Finding the place was exhausting. There was no sign for 89 Villas, just signs for Si Lay Restaurant. We walked about 2 km up a very steep road, went down hundreds of stairs to check in at a beautiful beachfront hotel by mistake, then had to climb back up before realizing Si Lay Restaurant was actually 89 Villas. Check-in was 25 minutes late, after the stated 2pm time. Our first room smelled strongly of raw sewage and was hot, dirty, and unlivable. The A/C didn't work, there was no hot water, the water pressure was poor, and the bathroom flooded. There was visible mold, mushrooms growing, and bugs throughout. Maintenance said they couldn't fix the A/C. The second room had similar issues and an even worse sewage smell. The listing is misleading, the property is poorly maintained, and basic necessities weren't reliably available. Please book somewhere else. This hotel shouldn't be taking guests in its current state or charging what it does.
