Austria’s Guest House and Restaurant

The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the facade and patio are the only pleasant parts of the place. I paid €24 a night, but this room was worth €6-10 at most. The photos and description were misleading and didn't match the room I was given. Other rooms, perhaps on the 1st floor, may be better, but that wasn't my experience. Very poor value. Travelers should know what they're getting. The room on the 2nd floor was old and worn, from the floor and walls to the doors. It was advertised as 18 m² but was around 10 m² in reality, cramped with two single beds, a beam in the narrow remaining passage, the entrance door, and three mesh openings. The fans hadn't been cleaned in a long time, mosquitoes kept coming through the mesh, and the mattresses were very uncomfortable because the springs were easy to feel. The shared bathroom was about 1 m² and badly laid out. Opening its outward-swinging door put you straight at the toilet, with the shower head just above and a little to the left, beside the sink. Everything got wet. There was no soundproofing or privacy either. One window above the bed opened onto a corridor where guests passed all night, another at the foot of the bed faced the external staircase, and the third opening also looked onto the stairs. Sleeping was difficult.
