Casa Vina El Nido

I liked how rustic and authentic the village felt, which was exactly what I wanted from my holiday. People were friendly and helpful, and you can watch basketball behind the hotel or see fires being lit on the beach at night while people catch squid. The room was clean, had air conditioning, and was close to the beach and restaurants. El Nido's main centre is about 20 km away. The airport tuk-tuk cost 1200 paso, while 500 hundred each way seems fair. Have someone from the hotel meet you at the bridge.

The staff we met were polite and friendly, especially one woman around the property who was consistently warm and welcoming. Still, the room's condition had a big effect on our stay. We found cockroaches in both the bathroom and bedroom, visible grime and waste contamination in the bathroom, and sewage or sulphur-like smells in the room and bathroom. The water also smelled unpleasant when we first turned on the taps or shower. The shower fixture was faulty, the Wi-Fi was unstable, and cleaning was inadequate after we raised the problems. We stayed one night in El Nido and reported the concerns, then tried to sort things out privately afterward, but communication became difficult and nothing was resolved.

The family running the place were very welcoming and always around to help make our stay pleasant. They even treated us to a meal during a storm. Our room was clean and nice, with quiet air conditioning and Wi-Fi.
