I paid 9000 pesos for six nights, but checked out the next morning. Nearby I found a much bigger, cleaner room with air conditioning and hot water for 1200 pesos a night. This place was wildly overpriced and a disaster. The room was tiny, with lizards all over it, and I kept waking up at night because of them. There was no wardrobe or room to put two suitcases down properly. The walls were dirty and the room poorly maintained. It was right next to reception, with no privacy and constant noise. There was no hot water, which nobody had mentioned beforehand. After a long, exhausting trip, I wanted a shower, and when I complained, I was told I should have asked whether there was hot water. Hot water is a basic necessity, and the hotel should clearly tell guests if it isn't available. I could only manage one night, and even that was difficult. Don't waste your money or peace of mind. There are much better, cheaper options in the same area.

The evening receptionist and the night staff member were really sweet, which is why I can't give just one star. The daytime reception staff, though, were grumpy and unhelpful. Breakfast is questionable: we had a ferry to catch, asked for a quicker omelette, and the woman making breakfast said five minutes. It took half an hour, so we left with only toast. She wasn't accommodating about speeding it up. At first, 1000 pesos, or $20, a night with breakfast seemed like a good deal for El Nido, but now we're not so sure. The room was small but adequate, and the beds were fine. It was humid and there were mosquitoes and sandflies, so nets would have made opening the window less risky. The toilet had no seat, and the window wouldn't close all the way, though it had bars. Wi-Fi didn't reach the rooms. The lobby connection was unreliable and very slow when it worked. My Filipino SIM card had signal in some parts of town but none at this pension.

A quiet, affordable transient, though it's quite far from the marketplace and the customer service was lacking. I paid $16 a night for three days, with breakfast included. The pantry had a good ambiance, but the food was average. We chose a fan room because it was raining at the time, though an air-conditioned room is probably the better option. 3/5.

The place was very clean, and they provided towels, paper and soap. Wi-Fi was good enough for us to watch videos online. I did have some trouble with the water flow in the bathroom. I stayed one night and paid at the desk without booking ahead. It was 2100 php for two rooms, each with a double and a single bed. The pension is near the road, so traffic is easy to hear. At the back there were cocks and pigs, though that seems common in much of the village. I used earplugs.

We booked by walking in because of the price, but it wasn't worth it. The rooms were tiny and underground, with ants and loud pump noises outside while the power was on. The electricity went out for half the night, and without a fan it was sweltering. I know the outage wasn't their fault, but they don't have a generator. The bathroom had no windows, so showering in the dark was an experience. We got out as soon as we could. No Wi-Fi.
