Dinner at the hotel’s Eagle’s Nest restaurant was tasty and filling. The seafood chop suey had crisp vegetables, shrimp, salmon, and fish balls in a savory, slightly sweet thick sauce, and the garlic fried rice was well done. Breakfast buffet was only passable, though: the garlic rice and corned beef were underseasoned, the adobo long beans were oily, and the longganisa wasn’t garlicky or sour enough for a true Ilocano taste. The convenience store at the nearby gas station is open 24/7. For the money, this little hotel offers good value, and I’d recommend it fairly highly. I’d suggest reserving a room in the “new” wing, which is much more modern than the “old” one. The rooms are large and clean. Beds are very firm, but the pillows support well and the linens are good quality. Air conditioning is good at minimum. The new wing has one elevator, with room for about six passengers, and it’s quick and quiet. The hotel is easy to spot behind a Petron station, with a wide frontage and a large, clear billboard. Getting to the registration and information desk means climbing many steps or taking a steep ramp. The desk staff were welcoming, warm, efficient, and helpful. Staff were courteous and quick to bring an extra towel and shower mat, since the soapy shower floor got slippery. Hot water failed on the second day because a fuse had tripped, but resident assistant staff fixed it easily. The shower pressure is weak, and the tiles need a more thorough scrub because there was some mildew. The bathroom is laid out fairly well, with enough space around its single sink. The hand operated bidet is handy, but the toilet seat was poorly fastened and slipped to one side with a loud whack when sat on. My pet peeve was getting only one room card, which is needed to activate the room’s electricity.

Transport is always waiting right out front, so getting around is quick and inexpensive. The airport shuttle was prompt and right on time. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, and the price was very affordable too. Thanks to Ms. JV Fariñas for taking care of my concerns. I’m looking forward to coming back.

The room and hotel were nice, as were the location and amenities. The staff were pleasant, but room servicing needs more training and a much better cleaning. If you can book without breakfast, do that. Breakfast was a letdown. The scrambled eggs were the only good part, and luckily they hadn’t messed those up. Buffet servers were there to manage how much you put on your plate, which I hated. Just skip the breakfast; the hotel itself was nice.

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times, but this visit was nothing like the others. They put me in the new tower, and based on the website I expected a five-star room. The actual experience was very different. I noticed a few insects when I arrived but, as a Filipino, I ignored them. After three days away, I came back planning to sleep in the room and found several kinds of insects all over, especially in the bed and bathroom. The AC was outdated, and they also charged me for leaving early because of their neglect. I hope this helps other guests and prompts the hotel to improve.

The location is handy, near town and shops about a 5-10 minute drive away. The caretaker was poor on service. I politely asked the front desk for a spoon, fork, and plate, but they told me to get them myself from the dining area. Breakfast was served late. I asked whether I should order or wait, then waited about 15 minutes, even though it wasn’t busy and it wasn’t a weekend. At least the coffee was hot. The rooms are quiet, old, and dark. The toilet light in mine didn’t work, and there weren’t many charging outlets, so it wasn’t suitable for remote work. Compared with other hotels I’ve stayed in, I think it’s fair enough. I might return, but it would probably be my second choice.
