Hotel St Ellis

The TV had plenty of channels, and the breakfast had a decent range of food, though there wasn't much choice in tea. The room was comfortable enough and had most of what we needed, but the toilet sometimes flooded because the bidet was leaking. The lobby looked nice. There was just one elevator, so we usually took the stairs since the floors weren't very high. The pool was small, and it rained most of the time we were there, so we couldn't use it. No gym either. It did the job for a few days of work.

We spent a night here with family before heading to Misibis Bay. The rooms were clean, and it was a pleasant place to stay right in the heart of Legazpi, with lots of places to eat nearby. The pool is small, though I don't think people really come here for the pool. Breakfast was so-so.

The bed and pillows were so plush that I still slept fine, even though the building's always-lit facade shone past the blackout curtains and the room never got fully dark. I checked the pillow tag because I wanted to see if I could buy one for myself, but they were hotel branded. This was the best and most complete hotel I've stayed at so far among several at a similar price in Legazpi and a couple in other Philippine cities outside NCR. Those stays were in the second half of 2024 and in 2025. My priorities are a good room and a solid breakfast, and this place did both well for my overnight trip to Legazpi in January 2025. The room was spacious, bright, well stocked, clean, cold, and newly renovated. It also had a Smart Tv. I've come to appreciate little things like free slippers, especially now that I'm getting older and often don't have as much time to prepare for an overnight stay as I would for a week-long vacation. With budget hotels trying to be more eco-friendly, some of the small complimentary things people used to expect have disappeared, and I'm fine with that if it lowers the cost. Still, the slippers were nice to have. I added lots of room photos for you to look at. Breakfast was tasty and had one of the better buffet selections I've had at similarly priced hotels. There was a buzzing mosquito, though, and I hope they can sort that out. The location worked well too, near a few restaurants, Ayala mall, and A. Bichara Silverscreens Cinema. The airport is about 30-40 minutes away.

The long power cut made our stay with my mother and sister very uncomfortable, especially in the hot weather. We were told at check-in that maintenance had taken the electricity out and it would be back by 4:00 PM. When I returned around 5:00 PM, our room was still dark. Power didn't come back until 8:00 PM, six hours after check-in. The staff did give us a solar-powered lamp, which I appreciated, but it didn't make up for the disruption. I only saw Agoda's maintenance notice from June 21st after my booking had become non-refundable, so I couldn't cancel or make other arrangements. I know maintenance can be unavoidable, but the communication wasn't timely, and the inconvenience made the stay unpleasant. Hotel St. Ellis should communicate earlier and do more to keep guests comfortable during maintenance.
