La Chevrerie Resort & Spa

The sunset view is lovely, and the location is okay, but I wouldn’t give this hotel more than four stars. Our room was old and poorly maintained, and it’s a shame the owners haven’t put effort into renovations. There were no mosquito nets on the balcony, which seems like an easy fix. Dinner at the restaurant was nice, though breakfast choices were disappointing. The staff were pleasant but couldn’t move us because the room we booked was the only one. The alternative was to downgrade us for 50% of the price, which seemed like a strange option. The view is great, but there isn’t much beach, mostly gravel and no sand. The pool towels were worn out, with loose threads and holes. It doesn’t seem difficult to replace them. It feels like they invested when the place first opened and haven’t come back to maintain it. It could be a genuinely relaxing place with quality service.

We tried snorkeling during our two-day stay and had a great time. The room, food, staff, and service were excellent, and I loved being there. A few more toiletries would’ve been useful. The Wi-Fi was unreliable for anything we tried to do, so some small comfort updates and perhaps a tech upgrade would help.

We’ve often come here to get away from daily bustle and spend time in nature. It’s a great place to unwind, and aside from the food issue, I still think everything else is amazing. Lately the food quality seems to have dropped. Breakfast is still good, but the dish names and photos on the menu often don’t match what actually arrives.

We loved our time at La Chevrerie and would come back if we’re in the area again. The owner was waiting at the gate when we arrived for a very late check-in, and she was so gracious. Staff were helpful and accommodating throughout our few days there. We snorkeled from the resort and saw lots of coral and fish, plus a turtle, and had several delicious meals on site. There’s also a great Italian restaurant within walking distance. I got a spa massage, and we used the small fitness room. We hiked from the hotel up Mt Gulugud. It’s a steep climb, but the views make it worthwhile. You can also take a car to the top if you’d rather skip the hike.
