Aurum One Makati

After a 15-hour flight from London, this was a comfortable place to rest before my early flight back to TW for work. The bed was comfortable, the room was tidy, and both the bathroom and room were clean. The A/C and service were good too. I booked AurumOne Makati online for my Manila layover on 2/15 after reading a few reviews, and it seemed like an affordable, adequate choice. It was under 30 minutes from Manila International airport by taxi when traffic was light. Airport taxis are extremely expensive, so I'd suggest contacting the hotel to help reserve one. The staff were smart and kind about my many late-night requests. I'd stay here again.

There was a violent street crime right outside the hotel involving two guests, who were foreigners. The staff and management didn't tend to the victims, arrange medical care, or contact the police. I see that as negligent behavior that failed to protect those guests and contributed to what happened to them. There can be no excuse for it, and I don't want excuses or apologies. This was an extremely dangerous place to stay.

For the price, you get an affordable room and a simple local breakfast, with no special staff hospitality. It's nothing remarkable, so keep your expectations modest. Their ads repeatedly call the hotel pet-friendly, but don't mention the pet surcharge of 1,000 peso/day.

The staff were very nice and helpful, and the location was pleasant, though taxi drivers had trouble finding it. Our room was spacious, clean, and nice, but there was some mold in the bathroom. I had a pleasant stay.
