Coro Hotel

The downtown location made it easy to walk around, and there are some nice malls nearby, though they’re expensive. The money exchange across the street offered the best rate, and the person there was very accommodating. We spent two nights here and paid $25 for the hotel airport ride. A Grab would have cost us $7, so just get one and save the money. Breakfast was $12 and terrible. There were only two fruit choices that I could eat, and the selection overall was poor. Next time I’d stay at the Grand Hotel on the corner, with its beautiful rooftop pool.

Being right in the middle of Poblacion makes it easy to get around, and we appreciate that the hotel welcomes pets with minimal fees. That’s hard to find. We’ve stayed here countless times and it’s always been our go-to. The rooms and staff are consistently great, and it never disappoints. We heard about a guest raising their voice at a staff member. We hope management handles it properly. The staff are the hotel’s biggest asset, so please protect and support them.

Parking is a little way up the road, not at Coro itself, and it’s rotary parking, so take anything you need before leaving the car. The room and staff were great. The lobby is lovely, and having a barber shop on site is convenient. The location works well for nightlife. I didn’t eat there, so I can’t speak to the food.

The front desk experience was poor. I’d called ahead about early check-in and said a staff member had assured me a room, but the receptionist claimed that person didn’t work there and might have the wrong name. A few days later I heard that same name in their conversation, so he does exist. I also got one laundry price at first, then was charged more when I picked it up. The bellman and cleaning service were the only bright spots. The room itself was okay, but it got so humid that the AC had to run constantly or very cold, and ventilation was poor. The bed was rock hard. Water spilled out of the badly designed standing shower onto the floor within a minute. I needed Wi-Fi, but it was unreliable or didn’t work, and they kept changing how to connect across two or three networks. I’d hoped for a better stay, but left Manila with a sour taste.
