The Clipper Hotel, Makati

I stayed for a week and won't be coming back. The towels were old, and the water would suddenly stop dripping. The warm water also took a while to come through because they use solar power. One older staff member with a tattoo was hard to approach and came across as rude. I wouldn't recommend this place.

A 1950s-style classic building, old but kept up well. The room had a fridge, and the AC, fan, and shower all worked fine.

The Makati location is handy, and the hotel has a nice retro feel. Street noise does carry in from outside. For the price, it's a good deal if you can live with some maintenance issues: little leaks at the bidet or faucet, dim lights in some rooms, and small TVs with a few local channels. There was no daily water or coffee supply, and no restaurant in the hotel. Deluxe rooms and some others have a microwave and refrigerator. Staff were responsive and did their best to help.

The location and staff were fine, but the bathroom gave us trouble. The toilet broke on the first day and wouldn't flush, and the shower pressure was incredibly weak. That first night was awful too, with some kind of party in the street. I could hear everything.
