We booked a twin room through Agoda under RedDoorz Plus and paid around ₱400-₱500 less than the direct booking price. The room was comfortable enough for two, with one pillow per bed, though it was compact and better suited to a short stay or business trip than a long vacation. There are no meals included. Okinawa, a small restaurant across the way, looked promising, but I didn’t try it this time. Room service is available for an extra fee. A.S. Fortuna is a busy business area, so the location is a real plus. For somewhere to rest for a night or a few days, it’s a solid nearby option for the price. This was my first stay at Moriyama Hotel, and I’d book again if I needed to. There are a few things to keep in mind: footsteps carry through the thin flooring, and traffic from the main road is audible because the soundproofing isn’t great. I saw mold in some areas around the lavatory. There’s no elevator, and we were on the third floor, with stairs accessed by going around the building. We only had backpacks, but with heavy luggage I’d ask for the first or second floor. The upper-floor railings also felt a little minimal given the height. The lobby was cute, with lots of daylight and greenery, and felt cozy at first. It wasn’t air-conditioned, or maybe it was just an unusually hot day; I’m not sure. It isn’t a luxury stay, but it’s practical and affordable for the location.

The room didn’t have enough space for four, despite what we’d been told, and the bathroom had visible wall mold and rusty glass walls that looked like they weren’t cleaned regularly. The sheets and pillowcases didn’t look clean, and the bed wasn’t comfortable. After water leaked in the first room and left the bathroom a little flooded, we had to move rooms. The staff member who came to help seemed unaware of the issue and didn’t apologize. Check-in was a mess too. We’d booked directly by phone, but the lobby staff weren’t ready with our details and there was no paperwork or confirmation beforehand. This was the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. 10/10 would not recommend. Management should review how things are run and improve the service for guests.

I keep coming back because the rooms are clean, the prices are good, and the service is great. I’ve stayed here four times, including once for 30 days. It’s always my favorite place to stay around mandaue and Cebu.

After checkout, my host came to pick me up, but I’d already left. The woman at the front desk told him nobody by my name had checked in, and apparently nobody had checked out either. I don’t understand how they handle the paperwork, but they need to work on it and train the desk staff to manage the guest list properly. If you stay here, ask for a first-floor room, especially if you have more than one suitcase.

The rooms felt like dressed-up container boxes, with hard floors and just one window that could open, in the bathroom. There were ants all over the bed. For the first time in my life, I woke up feeling short of air because we’d closed that bathroom window, since there were no bug screens. This was easily the worst place I’ve stayed, and I don’t understand why its page has so many positive reviews. Wouldn’t recommend it.
