At around 2,500 PHP a night, Toyoko Inn is a smart use of your money if you want cleanliness, good breakfast, and easy mall access. It’s in the heart of Mandaue City and connects directly to SM J Mall from the second floor, near Botejyu. Breakfast runs 6:30 to 9:30 AM on the 6th floor. The selection is simple but high quality, and the Sinigang was a real highlight, clean and flavorful. The dining room uses a CLAY-GO policy, so it stays neat. It was heartwarming to see elderly Japanese guests eating peacefully there. Check-in starts at 3 PM and checkout is by 11 AM, with reception on the 6th floor. Borrowing an iron requires a 200 PHP deposit. Rooms have high-quality Japanese toilets with excellent bidet pressure. Wi-Fi was modest, around 15 Mbps. There are only two pillows per bed, which may feel sparse if you’re used to four.

My sister and I stayed for 19 days, and the security staff’s professional, friendly presence helped us feel safe and cared for. The housekeeping team was respectful and attentive throughout, keeping the rooms spotless and looking after every request and need. The location was another big plus: the hotel connects directly to a shopping mall and grocery store, handy whether we wanted a quick snack, a full meal, or just to browse. For the price, we got more than our money’s worth. The value, comfort, and service exceeded our expectations. We’d gladly return and recommend it to anyone after a well-located, well-run hotel that doesn’t break the bank.

The free breakfast was a nice bonus, and the room was fine. We got some work done there after storm Tino, with three of us staying productive while the other two rested. It felt like good value for money. The main hassle was that only two elevators were working. At one point, the wait was long enough that we took the stairs. Sometimes the hallways smelled of cigarette smoke.

The massage service was the one bright spot: the masseuse was professional, patient, and friendly. The rest of the experience was extremely poor and left us feeling disrespected. We were four people, but the room had towels, toothbrushes, and other amenities for only two. It also smelled strongly of mold, and the front desk staff were rude and unprofessional. While we were trying to understand the room change, they seemed annoyed and pushed us to check in quickly. After we finished, they turned away and complained to someone nearby. We had booked a non-smoking room for January 17. On January 16, we told the hotel our schedule had changed and we’d arrive on January 18 instead. Staff clearly confirmed we could check in on the 18th and said they’d check in the room in advance so we could go straight in on arrival. But when we got there on January 18, the front desk said we were marked as a “no-show” and had given our non-smoking room to someone else. The only option was a smoking room, which we hadn’t booked and didn’t want. We followed the hotel’s instructions and got confirmation, so this was clearly an internal communication or system error on their side. It caused significant inconvenience. I wanted to report the unpleasant stay, but couldn’t find a proper feedback channel, so I have to do it on public platforms like Google reviews.
