Kaizen Suites

Bigger than I’d imagined, and simple and clean.

The bed was good, and the staff were helpful even though I called them a lot. The room had a comfortable bed and was quiet, though even our “quiet room” had a little noise at night, which makes me wonder how noisy the other rooms get. Kaizen suites really emphasizes “quiet room.” There was no sunlight, so it felt a bit dark even in the morning. The lighting options were yellow or orange, not white, which made doing my makeup inconvenient. There’s a TV, ref, chair, floor mat, Wi-Fi, aircon, hot and cold shower, toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, and shampoo. The toilet and shower are separate. But there’s no water dispenser, only one 350ml bottle per person per day. No refills, and extra bottles cost more. There’s no breakfast, snacks, or coffee provided, no tissue in the toilet, and no hair blower. I had to call the front desk for little things like cups, chairs, soap, and shampoo refills, which was inconvenient. The front desk also doesn’t explain all the policies and seems to assume you already know them. They require a 1,000 peso deposit for a stained towel. That makes it feel like they don’t want you using the towels, and it makes me wonder if they wash them at all since they’re that worried about stains. Guests are only allowed until 10 pm.

The rooms have poor soundproofing, so buses, trains, and jeeps passing by are impossible to tune out. I didn’t get a wink of sleep, even though I booked the room to be fresh for an exam the next day. So not recommended. Stay away, you’ve been warned!

A decent place if you don’t mind sleeping with a cockroach.
