Meaco Royal Hotel -Tayuman

The rooms cost a lot, and they weren’t very clean. The walls were dirty, and the place didn’t look like the pictures posted here. Staff weren’t accommodating and treated us like ordinary people instead of guests. During check-in and check-out they kept poker faces, didn’t smile once, and never even said thank you. The customer service was far below what I’d expect from a decent hotel. They also charged extra for a few washable spots on their amenities, including one that was already there when I entered the room. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I’d give it zero stars if I could. I’ll never return or recommend it.

Good value, with working WiFi, air-conditioning, and hot water. The TV could use an upgrade, since it isn’t smart, and the remote didn’t work. One blanket also wasn’t really enough for a couple. I’m lying here in the middle of the night while my partner has taken the whole thing.

We booked the executive family room through the zenrooms app for almost 2400php and stayed overnight, April 3-4. There were four adults and an eleven-year-old, and we thought it was great value. The attendant had trouble finding my booking when we arrived, but they still accommodated us. Staff were helpful the whole stay. Our room had three double beds, a TV, bedside tables, and very cold air-conditioning. The pillows and blankets were soft and clean, and there was a bidet plus hot and cold water in the shower. We didn’t try the breakfast menu, which is under 200php, since we ate outside. There’s a Novo beside the hotel, with parking outside and a security guard, and a 7-11 across the street. There’s also a bakery, Andoks, lomi batangueno, and plenty of other food shops nearby. It’s close to Divisoria, the US Embassy, Intramuros, UST, and other well-known Manila landmarks. At the time I’m writing, walk-in rates for the executive family room are 2100php for 24 hours or 1800php for 12 hours.

Alexandra, Jessica, Jomalyn, and Cristine were lovely and helpful, and I appreciated their kind service. The two security guards were also always ready to assist. It’s a good budget choice, though the bathroom could use some maintenance. I enjoyed my stay. Good luck!
