OYO 766 Ichehan Apartments

The location was noisy, and the room had a window that served only as an emergency exit. Other rooms apparently had windows facing the hallway. We found cockroaches of all sizes and mold everywhere. OYO should pay closer attention to its brand. The service was very poor, and we had to pay an extra four hours to check in early at 10 a.m., which was unacceptable. The 1,000-peso deposit also felt far too high. I’ve never seen that elsewhere in the Philippines. That wasn’t dirt on your logo, it was mold.

Budget, but it did the job. You get what you pay for, I guess: we found two cockroaches in our room and mold on part of the ceiling. There was clearly a leak above it, and the repair looked poorly done. They don’t provide drinking water either.

We checked in at 10 p.m. The staff member at the desk helped carry our bags upstairs, then locked the office and disappeared, even though the place was supposed to have 24-hour service. When we found there was no water, nobody was around, and our calls went unanswered. The building shuts off running water from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and even the bucket for the tabo hadn’t been filled. We’d been traveling and were dirty, so we had to clean up with wet wipes. There wasn’t toilet paper in the room either, if we wanted to use the Western-style option. The Wi-Fi also stopped working for several hours overnight. This might as well be four walls, a bed, and a bucket.

The staff were friendly, and the room was clean. But we had a terrible night's sleep because our room was beside an aircon riser shaft. All night it sounded like a generator was running in the room. I’m not exaggerating, we had to wear earplugs. The staff fixed the issue, so the noise didn’t happen again after that first night.
