ZEN Rooms Malate Nakpil

I don't usually leave bad reviews, but this was the worst hotel I've ever seen. The room smelled awful, wasn't clean, and even the clean towel they gave me smelled very bad. There was no hot water, and the staff service was very poor. The location wasn't good either. I was on the fifth floor, with no lift, and the washing machines on the rooftop made so much noise that I couldn't sleep. I'm strongly advising people not to stay here. You'll be disappointed, and it'll be a waste of time and money.

I paid $460 online through Trip for 20 nights, and for that price the room size and what you get are good for a cheaper Manila hotel. It's clean and newer than some other places, with Wi-Fi, TV, kettle, fridge, basin, a clean bathroom and bed, and a robe. Nearby are several SMs, McDonald's, Jollibee, KFC, Pizza Hut, and markets. It could use a little maintenance, but I'd stay again to save money. I'm out sightseeing or shopping most of the day anyway.

For the price, the room was decent. The door lock kept acting up, and it was clearly an ongoing problem. Since we couldn't unlock it, we had to go all the way down from the fifth floor each time to tell them we couldn't get in. The air conditioner leaked the entire stay, too.

I had already paid online, but couldn't cancel or change my dates without getting in touch with customer service. I wanted to move my booking earlier because I'd accidentally chosen the wrong date, so I tried reaching them by WhatsApp, Facebook, email, and customer service messages. I sent three separate messages and got no response. Where's the service? They really should reply to customers online.
